Chính phủ Hàn Quốc sẽ điều tra về chính sách thu phí trên App Store và Play Store đối với các giao dịch mua hàng trong ứng dụng.
Sau đơn kiến nghị của một số công ty thuộc nhóm Diễn đàn Khởi nghiệp Hàn Quốc (KSF), Bộ Khoa học và Công nghệ thông tin nước này thông báo sẽ điều tra Apple và Google. KSF tố những gã khổng lồ đến từ Mỹ sử dụng vị thế của họ để áp đặt mức phí cao và giữ quyền thay đổi thỏa thuận tùy ý.

“Bộ sẽ theo dõi cẩn thận và chuẩn bị chính sách đối phó với ảnh hưởng ngày càng lớn của các nhà cung cấp nền tảng,” phát ngôn viên của bộ này cho biết trên The Korea Herald. “Chúng tôi cũng làm trung gian giữa các nhà phát triển và đơn vị điều hành nền tảng để đảm bảo quyền lợi của người dùng”.
Vào giữa tháng 8, Chủ tịch tập đoàn Consortium Choi Sung-jin, một thành viên KSF, nói rằng các nhà phát triển lo ngại về mức phí của Google và Apple, cũng như không thể lựa chọn phương thức thanh toán thay thế.
“Mặc dù bản thân tỷ lệ hoa hồng 30% là quá cao, vấn đề lớn hơn là họ ràng buộc một hệ thống thanh toán độc quyền trong các cửa hàng ứng dụng”, Choi Sung-jin cho biết.
Theo The Korea Herald, Bộ Khoa học và Công nghệ thông tin Hàn Quốc dự định khảo sát thêm các nhà phát triển. Có thể những vấn đề này sẽ thúc đẩy việc sửa đổi Đạo luật Kinh doanh Viễn thông, sắp có hiệu lực vào tháng 1/2021.
Cuộc điều tra xuất hiện đúng thời điểm Apple vướng vào tranh chấp với nhà phát triển tựa game đình đám Fortnite. Trước đó, CEO Tim Cook cũng phải giải trình trước Ủy ban Tư pháp thuộc Hạ viện Mỹ về mức hoa hồng 30% cho các giao dịch trên App Store.
Gần đây, Apple đã tài trợ cho một nghiên cứu về hoa hồng trên các thị trường ứng dụng. Kết quả khẳng định App Store thu phí tương tự như các công ty khác, bao gồm cả Google.
